So I just finished watching The Last Jedi a couple hours ago.
Its filled with characters that do things. A couple of them have lightsabers, some even use blasters. There are some good fights. Also Porgs, lots of Porgs. I’m not really sure why though. Aside from some comic relief they really don’t add anything to the movie.
And actually, I think that about sums up the entire movie. There’s quite a bit of comic relief, and characters that are around and don’t really add anything to the story. Rey’s parents? It’s discussed. Briefly. The answer makes little to no sense. Do you have questions about Supreme Leader Snoke? Yeah, me too. Where did he come from? How did he get training in The Force? Was he a disciple of Palpatine? Was there more than two Sith Lords? They aren’t answered here. I doubt they’ll be answered in the next movie either.
So if you’re hoping for a new Empire Strikes Back, this isn’t it. Some stuff happens, but I don’t feel it really adds to the overall story. Very little has changed from the end of The Force Awakens to the end of The Last Jedi. Seriously if you take anything from this movie, it’s that there are Porgs. The Porgs are everywhere, and ultimately none of them matter. I can’t think of a better way to sum up this movie.
But know what, I’d still go see it again, and I’m still going to buy it on BluRay when it comes out. Because it’s Star Wars.
